ShopNBC Watch Show Update 10/20/2009

October 20, 2009

I caught tonight’s Renato show on ShopNBC. Normally, I’d pass on a Renato show as I am not a fan. But the recent heat from Überfans response to a few of the blogs I wrote have me hooked.

One of the comments on my blog stated that Mr. Skelton was no longer to mention watchgeeks.net. Sounds reasonable but this was as a statement of fact without any supporting evidence. Then, tonight, Mr. Skelton mentioned discussing how great a specific Renato looks once you get it home with “watch social groups” I thought, “Shitzam!” this troll might be on to something. But then Daniel Mink mentioned a watchgeek that had designed one of the pieces being sold.

Further into the 11 o’clock hour, Mr. Skelton started talking about watchgeeks.net and the 14,000 odd members.

Warning – conjecture is about to happen; is this a big FU to SNBC management? Or is this a reminder to network brass of just how much juice the watchgeek nation has?

I think this picture was taken while he was selling the retro edition “Monroe” from Too Close for Comfort digital watch with the glittery pink band! I bet JJ brought a dozen!

Posted at watchgeeks by Jim Skelton. The reality is that WG is seldom mentioned and to do so on air acts as an endorsement of his site by Shopnbc. Legally that is a liability in the event they get sued or perform some illegal action.

During the Renato show this evening, Mr Corona Gorda at 9:46 PM PST commented that the Renato Beast for women made them fertile. Nice….

Mentioning of WG on ShopNBC shows

    ——————————————————————————–

I’m tired of hearing the puffed-up BS stories from one particular blowhard, so I’m going to comment directly on this.

He says “thanks to me, Jim no longer mentions WG on his shows anymore…”

Really? I think it’s time to put a self-important, pompous BSer in his place for once.

Here is a site that actually runs a blow-by-blow commentary on my shows each week: http://www.watchfreeks.com/view_forum.php?id=28 and you’ll notice how many times he notes I mention WG on the air.

Our shows are not scripted, we do not use teleprompters, what we say is whatever pops in our heads at the moment… so it will vary show to show. It’s nice of this person to mention that I have been slipping and mentioning WG less lately, I will be very sure to correct that this evening and in the future….

So when you hear someone claiming to have done anything to change what happens on the shows, don’t believe them because there is no one single person who can do anything even close to that. No matter how huge their ego is, or how much they THINK they know…

*EDIT* Adding this: I should clarify for anyone who misunderstood me… I’m NOT calling out the guy who owns that forum I linked to!! I used that link to provide proof that I do indeed mention WG often on my shows.

I checked out the link you posted. For all the naysayers who think that SNBC is one big happy family, take note; Tim Temple is registered at watchfreaks, having joined on 10/18. He’s still not posting at watchgeeks is he? Starting to see what’s going on?

Mr. Skelton is the blowhard it seems. His show on the 25th mentioned his forum twice. A far cry from his bragging below. Mr. Skelton has an ego problem.

Posted by a former employer of his who is a class act. It is funny that this employer nor any of his others show up in his resume. Understand also that Jim Skelton is a PUBLIC Person, not a private one which means his life is an open book. The lives of normal people like the owner of this blog or myself or almost all of the posters here are private lives and not open books.

In fact, attempting in any way to cause the owner of this blog or any private individual harm, hold them in a false light, invade thier privacy, libel them or attemtpt to cause them to stop posting is a crime and also a civil matter.

I have never posted anything about anyone that is negative in this forum. I will not start now. My observations of Jim are only that he is guilty of envy beyond his control. He wants our success and lifestyle, he is envious of the success of Harris, Tony, Bruce and any other person that he perceives to be successful. He cannot grasp the concept that each and every successful person on the bulletin board earned the position in life they enjoy today. Jim wants it all without the sacrifice and hard work that it has taken each of us to get there. He wants my business, and the financial gain that each of us has created through hard work and the willingness to work as hard as we needed to to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
Tony & Teresa are two of the hardest working most compassionate human beings I have had the honor of meeting. They worked darned hard to create success in their lives no one gave them any breaks. I do not know Harris well enough to know his background, but I admire his intelligence to be able to retire at his early age. More power to him! Bruce and Lindsay, I have only heard their names discussed with the greatest of admiration. I am deeply saddened for them.

Jim, I begged you to get help, to learn to control your spending habits and learn to live within your means. You scorned my Motherly advise. You are smart and charming, you could have so much, if you were willing to earn it. The free ride is over. I worry about Hunter. What kind of example are you setting for the little guy? As a parent, his wants and needs should come before anything. You owe him food, clothing, shelter, stability and security.

The good people here at CF are the best of the best, and generous to a fault. Get a handle on your life and unscrew the mess that you have made of it.

    I wish you the best.

  6. mary boles Says:

i bought the invicta model 6028 automatic how can i remove 4 links

  7. betterskills Says:

You need to get a pin remover kit. You can buy one of the ones that Invicta makes that’ll include a bunch of stuff you’ll in all probability, never use, or just pick one up on eBay for $8.00. I recommend the one that looks like a pair of pliers. You can improvise with a punch or piece of metal, but that’ll just get you pissed. Look for the little arrows on the inside of the band and push the pins in that direction. You’ll need to use a little force but you’ll hear a snap. Pull the pin out and select the pin on the opposite end and repeat. Try to keep the pin with the hole it came from.

Google “how-to resize watch band pins” and you’ll get visuals I think watchuseek or affordable watch forum has a old visual set. May even be something on instructables.com on improvised tools and steps.
